DONATE ON GIVING TUESDAY

Giving Tuesday is here and we are trying to raise $10,000 in 24 hours for our baby rhinos. We had an amazing 15 births in 2016, and we throw all we’ve got into keeping these guys safe and healthy. So this holiday season, we’re asking for your help.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fuelled by the power of social media and collaboration.

Celebrated on the Tuesday following the U.S Thanksgiving holiday, it kicks off the charitable season, and we’re asking you to get involved.

At $60,000 a pound, rhino horn is now more valuable than gold and diamonds. In the face of unabated poaching pressure, Ol Pejeta have managed to grow our black rhino population from just 45 in 2005, to 115 this year. This is because we throw all we’ve got into keeping these guys safe and healthy, and this holiday season, we’re asking for your help.

In 2016, we have had 15 rhino births on the Conservancy, and we want to keep going. Not just because baby rhinos are adorable (we could watch them all day), but also because each baby is a small victory for African rhino conservation. But here’s the kicker. It costs us $10,000 a year to keep each of these babies safe; this includes everything from ranger salaries and equipment, to fence maintenance and emergency vet bills. We are up against heavily armed and well-funded crime syndicates, who will stop at nothing to get to these little ones and their mothers, and we need to stay one step ahead.

This #GivingTuesday help us keep these little guys from harm. Together, we can stand up against poaching. Together, we can make a difference to black rhino conservation.
