LAMU – NO LONGER UNDER ANTI TRAVEL ADVISORY

In time for the annual Lamu Yoga Festival, which is still ongoing until the 12th of March, has the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office lifted their unjustified anti travel advisory against Lamu, not that it apparently had much of an impact other than making the purchase of travel insurance in some countries more difficult.
The island is packed at present with visitors from near and far for the annual Yoga Festival and all English accents, from Britain itself to America, Australia and New Zealand can be heard as accommodation providers have hung out the ‘Fully Booked‘ signs.
Lamu, an ancient archipelago along the Northern beaches of Kenya, is a destination in its own right and a series of annual festivals has captured the imagination of intrepid travelers from around the globe.
Next on the annual calendar or events will be the Lamu Food Festival from the 07th to the 10th of April.
Connections to Lamu from Nairobi and Mombasa are available daily by such airlines as Safarilink and Air Kenya out of Wilson Airport, Jambojet out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and soon by Skyward which will link Mombasa with Lamu on flights also originating at Nairobi Wilson.
