#GorillaHighlands News

Dear

ATCNews Readers,

As the welcome video above explains, this is the last special email edition of Gorilla Highlands News. For the sake of simplification, we will make only one version from now — an attractive one-page PDF with links to website content — delivered to any screen of your choice. If you prefer it via WhatsApp, please text +256 782 779 599.

Pocket Guide Frequency Changes, Big Time

15 May 2019 is the deadline to get your space in the upcoming edition of the Gorilla Highlands Pocket Guide, our popular paper booklet. It will be printed before the end of this month and take us through the first half of the high season.

And then, the things will change big time…

We want to create constant availability of the booklet, and our experience shows 10,000 copies run out in 2-3 months. With your support, there will be three booklets in 2019 and four in 2020.

This new frequency will allow us to add time-sensitive content, like seasonal promotions and an East African activity calendar.

Deadlines:

15 May 2019
15 July 2019
15 November 2019
15 February 2020
15 May 2020

You better opt for being in multiple editions and get a discount!

In the beginning of 2019 we put the first “chapter” of Adventures with Izy on YouTube. Then we recorded, recorded, recorded… Before the next edition of GH News is ready, we will start posting what we experienced during the Ultimate Hike in Uganda and in Rwanda’s national parks. Don’t miss it, subscribe to our YouTube channel!

What Has Happened?

DR Congo: Virunga NP has reopened

Rwanda: The government has stopped Rwandans’ travel to Uganda, saying it is concerned after many of its citizens have been arrested

Uganda: An American tourist got kidnapped in Ishasha but later released unharmed

Read more about it in our Bold Vision for the Gorilla Highlands region. You will learn about our plans for the Gorilla Highlands Society (we are thinking bigger than ever), for the “Unreal Map” (you need to watch the video to see what’s possible), for the 2019 edition of Silverchef (we want to bring it to Goma in October) and more.

Rwanda in 22 Brilliant Photos

Throughout April we were showcasing Rwanda on our social media channels. This wasn’t a random collection of images but a photo tour across the country. … Are you following us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter?!

Batwa Jamboree Moved to Christmas

As Rwandan “Historically Disadvantaged People” wouldn’t be able to participate (see here) we have moved the Batwa Jamboree, the gathering of Batwa “Pygmies” from four countries, to Christmas time. We will cross our fingers for Rwandan and Ugandan leaders to solve their issues by then.

The event logo was drawn by Fabian Windischbauer, an Austrian volunteer. It shows ten endemic birds of our region that will represent ten sub-camps (Batwa communities). Can you identify their names?
