STTA and the Green Globe Academy have earlier today announced a new partnership agreement between the two organizations.
This gives access to GGA sustainability leadership programmes to youths who are part of the STTA Change Maker project and can now further advance their skills and knowledge.
Successful graduates of the programme will then be awarded a joint certificate by STTA and the Green Globe Academy.
2017 was the international year for sustainable tourism during which STTA embraced the concept to engage with Kenyan university students, encouraging and nurturing them towards embracing sustainable development in tourism.
Said Judy Kepher Gona, Director of STTA, when making the announcement: ‘I am delighted that this pioneering extension learning programme, mainly delivered through monthly inter university seminars and sustainable tourism, is now linked to a renowned and leading sustainable tourism institution, to create new opportunities for the university students and also contribute to building a strong foundation for a truly sustainable tourism industry‘.
Her word were echoed by Green Globe CEO Guido Bauer who added: ‘Our goal for the Green Globe Academy is to work with institutions on the ground in destinations around the world. In this way we can deliver our important knowledge and training in ways which are relevant to the new generation of tourism workers, managers and entrepreneurs‘.
