KENYA AIRWAYS ANNOUNCES NEW FLIGHTS TO HANOI
(Posted 29th January 2015)
In a first for Africa will Kenya Airways add direct flights from Nairobi to Hanoi / Vietnam, starting on the 30th of March. The new service will be operated in conjunction with SkyTeam partner Vietnam Airlines. Passengers from across Africa will be able to reach Vietnam via Nairobi with convenient connections through Kenya Airways’ new home in Terminal 1A.
The three weekly flights will use one of Kenya Airways’ new Boeing B787-8 Dreamliners and passengers travelling beyond Hanoi will be able to reach their final destinations in Korea, China and Japan by onward flights with partner airline Vietnam Airlines.
Kenya Airways’ CEO Mbuvi Ngunze commented yesterday on the new flights: ‘Vietnam has shown a considerable and stable economic growth over the recent years, including an increase in trade with Africa. As the first airline to directly connect Vietnam to Africa, we are sure to leverage on this growth. Together with our SkyTeam partner Vietnam Airlines, we are very confident the addition of Hanoi to our network will be a success’.
Kenya Airways is due to add three more Dreamliners this year to complete the delivery of an initial order of 9 such aircraft but it is an open secret that pending options will be converted into firm orders sooner rather than later to support the rollout of additional destinations or add more frequencies on routes with high passenger volumes.
Bookings for the new route are open through the airlines’ reservation systems and more details can be accessed via www.kenya-airways.com

A direct route for the Vietnamese to ship ivory back home
Also I’d prefer a Vietnam visa on arrival service for Kenyans wanting to visit Vietnam. There is no Vietnam embassy in Kenya hence the visa on arrival will work quite well. I prefer this service.
