Hello Jambojet as livery unveiled at airline’s Embakasi base in Nairobi

JAMBOJET REVEALS THEIR LIVERY

(Posted 27th March 2014)

Kenya Airways’ owned Jambojet, a new low cost carrier due to start operations on 01st of April, this evening formally revealed their livery, showing off the colours they will be flying across Kenya from Nairobi to Mombasa, Eldoret and Kisumu. With fares starting from Kenya Shillings 2.850 per sector flown, taxes inclusive, available for the earliest of birds and subject to the booking forecast for a particular flight, this fare represents a major saving compared to the fares charged on these routes by other airlines, even if checked baggage attracts another charge payable at check in as does a request for a particular seat.

Besides the name painted on the hull of the aircraft is in particular the tail fin of each aircraft painted in a different design, sure to have passengers take more than just one look to see what aircraft they are boarding.

(Jambojet is introducing one of their B737-300’s named ‘Zebra’)

The main colour theme however, as seen before of course in commercials and adverts, is strikingly similar to the one used by Kenya Airways’ former LCC Flamingo and there have already been some comments that this particular choice might not be a good omen, as Flamingo of course at the time was eventually brought back into the KQ fold after failing to make a commercial impact, their Saab turboprop aircraft integrated into the main Kenya Airways fleet and the concept shelved, until two years ago the Jambojet project re-emerged.

Jambojet now has three Boeing B737-300 on their fleet which will be used to fly, depending on the traffic day, between 5 and 6 times from Nairobi to Mombasa, twice a day from Nairobi to Kisumu and 13 times a week to Eldoret (some of those flights then route back to Nairobi via Kisumu). All three aircrafts, now configured in a single class economy cabin, came from parent corporation Kenya Airways and are leased to Jambojet.

Happy landings to the three birds, the crews and passengers, when they take to the skies over Kenya on April 01st. The maiden flight takes off that day at 06.30 am from Nairobi to Kisumu, followed at 07.30 am by the first flight to Mombasa and an afternoon departure to Eldoret.

One Response

  1. Wishing Jambojet all the best. Hope they have much success, and therefore allow more Kenyans to get the chance to travel by air.
