(Posted 08th August 2018)

Hilton’s market entry into Uganda is now expected in either late Q1 or early Q2 of next year, when their Hilton Garden Inn brand will then unveil their logo on a purpose built new franchised hotel in the capital Kampala.
The arrival of Hilton will bring another global brand to Uganda, following in the footsteps of Marriott which has already a presence through the acquisition of Starwood Hotels / Sheraton and Protea Hotels, the latter with presently two hotels in operation and a third one being prepared for branding.
Hilton has over the past year and a half been aggressively working the East African market and the opening a few months ago of the Hilton Garden Inn Nairobi Airport – https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g294207-d12817722-r602511894-Hilton_Garden_Inn_Jomo_Kenyatta_International_Airport-Nairobi.html – and the conversion of the former Amber Hotel in Nairobi to a DoubleTree by Hilton – https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g294207-d9810215-r395746744-DoubleTree_by_Hilton_Nairobi_Hurlingham-Nairobi.html – have boosted their present in the region.
In Kigali has the Ubumwe Grand Hotel been lined up for a conversion too, and with the objecting shareholder now reportedly out of the picture is the DoubleTree by Hilton brand also soon expected to make its debut in Rwanda.
