FIRST EVER WOMAN TO HEAD ICAO GETS SECOND TERM
(Posted 20th March 2018)
Last weekend did the ICAO Council confirm that Fang Liu, first appointed as Secretary General of the global aviation body in 2015, will serve a second three year term until 2021.
Fang Liu was the first lady to be appointed as SG of the International Civil Aviation Organization which guides and regulates civil aviation authorities around the globe.
Her focus during her first term was on security and safety of aviation, making significant inroads to improve on both scores.
Before serving at one of ICAO’s directorates for nearly 8 years did Fang work at China’s Civil Aviation Authority for nearly 20 years, giving her unprecedented knowledge and insights into the aviation industry.
With the re-appointment does she follow in the footsteps of her predecessor who also served two consecutive terms of office.
