The Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) proudly inaugurated its Federal Capital Territory (FCT Abuja) Chapter in Abuja on Thursday, 11th September 2025, marking a historic milestone for the tourism sector in Nigeria’s capital city. The event was filled with optimism, symbolism, and a renewed commitment to advancing tourism in the nation. In his inaugural speech, Prince Adetunji Femi Fadina, President of ATPN, described the launch as more than just a ceremony, but rather “a bold declaration that tourism in Nigeria is alive, vibrant, and ready to flourish in the corridors of power.”

He emphasized the unique role of the FCT Chapter as the Association’s face before policymakers, investors, and the world. Adding a touch of symbolism, the President noted that even the weather joined the celebration: “If the rain falls, don’t be troubled—it is not disruption, it is endorsement… these showers are not obstacles, they are blessings, washing the ground clean so that your chapter may grow strong, fruitful, and enduring.”

Prince Fadina reaffirmed his commitment to the Chapter’s success, pledging to support rather than overshadow its leadership. “We have challenges, yes. But we also have the creativity, resilience, and unity to turn those challenges into opportunities. Together, we will showcase Abuja as the tourism capital of West Africa.”

Delivering her address, Dr. Abigail Olagbaye, Vice President ATPN FCT highlighted the broader vision of tourism as a driver of unity and sustainable development. She noted: “Tourism is more than leisure; it is a bridge between cultures, a driver of unity, and a catalyst for sustainable economic development. The Federal Capital Territory, with its rich cultural diversity, modern infrastructure, and central role as the seat of government, holds immense potential to become a world-class tourism and investment destination.”

Dr. Olagbaye stressed the chapter’s renewed commitment to excellence, collaboration, and innovation, while extending heartfelt appreciation to the National Executive, royal fathers, stakeholders, and partners for their invaluable support. On behalf of the newly inaugurated Executive Committee, Chief Julietta Ofuyeta, Chairperson of the FCT Chapter, expressed gratitude for the trust reposed in her and her team. In her remarks, she pledged to work tirelessly to justify that trust: “As we embark on this journey together, I am committed to harnessing our collective expertise, passion, and dedication to propel the tourism industry forward. We will prioritize innovation, collaboration, and sustainable practices to drive growth, create opportunities, and showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural and natural heritage to the world.”

She further expressed eagerness to work closely with members, stakeholders, and partners to achieve these goals. The inauguration ended on a note of celebration, unity, and anticipation for the vibrant future ahead. With Abuja positioned as a key stage for Nigeria’s tourism story, the ATPN FCT Chapter is set to play a defining and pivotal role in shaping narratives, attracting investment, and building sustainable growth for the sector.
