#IndianOcean cyclone #Berguitta continues to affect air traffic

AIR MAURITIUS CANCELS MORE FLIGHTS AS CATEGORY 3 CYCLONE HITS THE REGION

As a safety precaution has Air Mauritius announced the cancellation of further flights later today, 18th of January 2018, given the conditions caused by tropical category 3 cyclone Berguitta.

Affected flights include but are not restricted to:

? Rodrigues: MK120/121, MK126/127, MK130/121, MK140/141
? Reunion, St Denis: MK218/219, MK238/239, MK248/249
? Reunion, St Pierre: MK226/227, MK 256/257
? Antananarivo: MK288/289
? Johannesburg: MK851/852
? Cape Town: MK843/844

Information about flight disruptions are being conveyed to the public through regular communications in the media, through communiques, on the company website and through the Air Mauritius SMS service.

The airline also said that operations will only resume when all cyclone warnings have been removed, the airport of the island is reopened and when they are satisfied the7 can again operate safely.

The government in Port Louis has for safety reasons closed both sea port and airport until the storm, which is heading directly towards the island, has passed.

Air Austral too has cancelled flights between the islands and also services in and out of Reunion until the cyclone has passed. On Air Austral’s website www.air-austral.com are details available about flights cancellations and changes up to the 21st of January.
