NEW AIRCRAFT DELIVERY FOR FASTJET IN TIME FOR BUSY SEASON?
(Posted 23rd December 2017)
Skyliner Aviation, an aviation news site, earlier today tweeted via @skylinerav that Fastjet, one of Africa’s leading low cost airlines with bases in Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, is about to take delivery of an ATR72-600 aircraft.

There has been talk that the new turboprop aircraft, which would be the first of its kind since the new management team decided to rightsize their fleet aircraft and abandon the early choice of Airbus A319’s, will be deployed in Tanzania in order to serve both existing destinations but also potentially fly to that country’s gas capital of Mtwara where the runway is not able to accommodate jets.
The ATR aircraft presently appears to be stored at the manufacturer’s main assembly facility in Toulouse after first entering services in 2012 for AZUL Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras before going into storage in late 2016.
Already painted in the new livery of Fastjet is the aircraft, after undergoing airworthiness checks, due for delivery within days.
Watch this space for the plane’s final destination, its new registration and the routes it will be deployed on.
