NEW PASSENGER RECORDS FOR AIR SEYCHELLES IN LINE WITH RECORD ARRIVALS
(Posted 15th December 2015)
Etihad partner Air Seychelles has reason to celebrate as the airline yesterday welcomed its 500.000th passenger on board their flight from Paris to Mahe. Miss Olivia Kahn found herself at the centre of a major celebration when arriving from France for her vacation and she received flowers and for her return flight a guaranteed upgrade to the Air Seychelles business class. The airline is four star rated by international aviation audit organization Skytrax and no doubt will the lucky passenger be even more impressed than on her inbound flight to the Seychelles.
To top the day’s good news did then the 180.000th passenger on Air Seychelles’ domestic services board one of the airline’s Twin Otter aircraft, a Ms. Shirley Auguste, who besides flowers and a rousing welcome by Air Seychelles staff also got a complimentary return ticket between Mahe and Praslin.
The airline’s Chairman, Transport and Foreign Minister Joel Morgan and CEO Roy Kinnear, then both went on record when first Minister Morgan said: ‘Recording these milestones is an incredible achievement for Air Seychelles that demonstrates the continued growth of the airline and the success of our strategic plan, which is on track to meet and exceed targets for 2015. Our passenger numbers this year have been considerably boosted by the successful introduction of non-stop flights between Seychelles and Paris, as well as the enhancements to our domestic and regional network. These developments to the network and flight schedules have resulted in thousands more travellers discovering our islands and in turn, making an even bigger contribution to our tourism-based economy’.
The Chairman’s remarks were then followed by the CEO’s comments: ‘There was great excitement at Seychelles International Airport this morning as our 500,000th guest disembarked the plane, as well as when we surprised our 180,000thinter-island flier in the domestic terminal. It was a pleasure to celebrate these record achievements with our guests, a greater number of whom are choosing to fly with Air Seychelles every day, showing why we are the leading airline in the Indian Ocean region. Air Seychelles has added significant network capacity this year and we are confident that this growth will be reflected in our strong end of year results for 2015’.
The archipelago only last week announced that more than 254.000 visitors had entered the island since the 01st of January, an increase of some 20 percent year on year, making 2015 the most successful tourism year in the Seychelles’ history.
