Dr. Jane Goodall opens Sweetwaters Information Centre
There couldn’t have been a more appropriate person to open the brand new Information Centre at Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary than renowned primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall. With a classic chimpanzee ‘pant hoot’ she cut the ribbon, opening a Centre which aims to raise awareness about the plight of chimpanzees in the wild. She was accompanied by Director General of the Kenya Wildlife Service, Mr. Kitili Mbathi.

This collar might have saved her life
Earlier this month, Ol Pejeta partnered with veterinary doctors from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to successfully fit a VHF radio collar on a lioness. While she was under sedation, the vets noticed a deep gash on her front paw that would have been inhibiting her movement and causing a lot of pain. Thankfully, they were able to treat her.

Ol Pejeta tour guides now Bronze Certified by KPSGA
Last month, several tour guides and caregivers from Ol Pejeta took part in the KPSGA certification exams. The Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association is an independent non-profit created for the certification of safari driver guides, lodge naturalists and other individuals within the tourism sector. After successfully competing and passing the exams, seven of our tourism guides are now bronze certified as per the KSPGA grading system.
