Jazz concert proceeds help to complete new cancer ward

7TH NILE GOLD JAZZ FESTIVAL AT THE KAMPALA SERENA A SELL OUT

(Posted 03rd October 2014)

Come Friday night will the main auditorium of the Kampala Serena Conference Centre be resonating to the sounds of Jazz, as the 7th Nile Gold Jazz Safari goes underway. Guest at the hotel wanting to join the crowd might still be able to get a ticket from the hotel’s concierge but for all purposes is the concert a total sellout as was earlier in the week the piano concert performed by Alexander Gurning. Tickets go at 180.000 Uganda Shillings or just under 70 US Dollars and the sellout indicates that there is now a big enough market in Kampala for such events, even at this cost.

Serena has partnered for the jazz event with Nile Breweries’ Nile Gold Brand – the company is part of SAB Miller – with British Airways, Black Roots and the Rotary Clubs in Uganda and the star attractions will be Grammy Nominee R&B star Joe Thomas, Grammy Winner Norman Brown and the five man jazz band Super Tizer. ALL PROCEEDS of the evening will be going towards the completion of the cancer ward at the Nsambya Hospital, which is receiving support from Rotary and other organisations including the Kampala Serena Hotel as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
