The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has issued a NOTAM that the airfield in Jinja will be closed until the 27th of October next year.

Anyone intending to charter a plane into or out of Jinja will have to make alternative arrangements.

Meanwhile has it be learned that Aerolink – Uganda’s premier domestic scheduled and charter airline – will drop their scheduled flights to the Mbarara airfield and on to Mweya / Queen Elizabeth National Park as well as to Kidepo National Park with immediate effect. However, these destinations can still be reached by air with charter flights which Aerolink will be happy to arrange.

At the same time was it also announced by Air Kenya that the Mara – Entebbe Route  flights will operate year-round with a minimum of 4 passengers, except from April 1 to May 31, 2025, and from November 1 to December 15, 2025, when it will only operate as a charter service.

This service is arguably the best option to combine the great migration experience in the Masai Mara with tracking of primates – mountain gorillas and chimpanzees – in Uganda where the domestic flights from Entebbe to Kisoro or Buhoma are operated by Aerolink Uganda. an Air Kenya sister company.
