John Kariuki appointed Chairman of Sarova Hotels

SAROVA HOTELS PRESENT JOHN KARIUKI AS NEW BOARD CHAIRMAN

(Posted 03rd February 2014)

The Board of Directors of Sarova Hotels, left without a substantive Chairman since the passing of ‘Channi Vohra’ in mid October last year, has over the weekend announced the appointment of John Kariuki as the new Chairman of the company.

John, well known to this correspondent since his early days in Kenya, was on board from the early stages when Sarova Hotels was formed in the early 1970’s and for an extended period of time in fact served as the company’s Executive Director at the head office, back then located at the New Stanley Hotel.

Sarova Hotels has over the years built a portfolio of properties across Kenya in key locations and owns and operates the famous Sarova Stanley Hotel in the heart of Nairobi, the Panafric Hotel at the edge of the CBD, but also the 5 star Sarova Whitesands Resort & Spa in Bamburi / Mombasa, the Sarova Shaba Lodge in the Shaba Game Reserve, the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge in Nakuru National Park, the Sarova Mara Game Camp in the Masai Mara and manages the Sarova Taita Hills and Sarova Salt Lick lodges.

Today acknowledged as a leading brand in Kenya’s hospitality industry – CEO JS Vohra is presently the chairman of the Kenya Association of Hotel Keepers and Caterers – is Sarova Hotels also part of the Kenyan post independence era hospitality scene which from humble beginnings made it to the apex of the industry.

Congratulations to John Kariuki on his new appointment and all the best for the challenges ahead in coming months and years.

  1. I am an Artist based in Nakuru and have been working with the Sarova Lion Hill,Game Lodge since the year 2012 April .I have always worked hard in every assignment given by the Lodge Manager Mr. Ken Korir.
Early last year January, the Manager with other Heads of department invited me in giving out the quotation of 8 engraving signage’s that were meant to advertise the hotels location. On February i had completed the 2 signage’s and paid quarter of the money. On the month of April I had completed the other 6 sign boards. They then took 4 and left 2 promising that they would come with and collect the remaining by which they would clear my remaining balances.Since last year April,it has never happened. They no longer reply to my emails neither can i get access to the Sarova Lion Hill.
The balance is too little but to the team i worked with ,is more than gold.I kindly request that through you ,there is light to the less fortunate young youths who are striving to earn from their talent and skills for a better tomorrow.
