Discover an Extraordinary Coastline

Some landscapes do more than inspire you. They shift your sense of what’s truly important.

In this remote corner of south-western Angola, where rolling dunes meet the Atlantic Ocean, change is the only constant. The wind and sea dramatically, endlessly reshape the contours of the coast – day after day, tide after tide.

The ocean brings seals, flamingos and stories from beyond the horizon, along with the life-giving mists that provides vital moisture for desert-adapted plants and wildlife.

Travel guide Emma Badger explores the coastline of Iona National Park – a landscape sculpted by the forces of nature, rich in history and biodiversity. A landscape that reminds us why these wild, intact ecosystems matter.

Follow Emma’s journey through her words, and her short film – brought to life through the voice of local driver-guide Mauro Michel.
