Kahama flights next for Precision Air

PRECISION AIR COMPLETES TEST FLIGHT TO KAHAMA AND SETS 05TH SEPTEMBER AS LAUNCH DATE

Tanzania’s Precision Air Services Plc, yesterday announced its intention to launch direct flights to Kahama district in Shinyanga region.

The announcement was made in style together with a successful test flight, performed by Precision Air’s aircraft 5H-PWF ATR42-500.The aircraft landed at the Kahama Airstrip,which has been coded by IATA as KBH at exactly 17:00 hrs (local time) accompanied by Kahama’s District Commissioner, Hon.Fadhili Nkurlu who boarded the flight from Mwanza.

Addressing the invited guests and press during the event, Precision Air’s Corporate Affairs Manager Mr. Hillary Mremi, said by opening up Kahama route Precision Air is living its slogan ‘You are why we fly’ through opening up routes which are meant to serve the demands of the mwananchi, a Kiswahili word for people.

Mr. Mremi said Precision Air will start its commercial operations effective from 5th September 2017, initially with three flights a week, every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and strategically increasing the frequency to daily depending on the demand.

‘There will be no need for passengers from Shinyanga and Kahama to drive all the way to Mwanza to catch their flight to Dar es Salaam. Our flights from Kahama will not only save time but the cost of travel for the ordinary Mwananchi and traders as well.This will go a long way toward the creation of better connectivity throughout the republic, the growth of our hub in Dar es Salaam and the economy of our country. It is our hope that this flight will be the basis of opening up Kahama to the world‘ he said.

On the other hand, Mr. Mremi thanked the government through Kahama’s District Commissioner for their continued support.

Kahama located in the northwest of Tanzania is known for Gold mining and it is believed to have a potentially very vibrant economy, but lacked scheduled air services for years. Precision Air flights are expected to speed up economic developments in the district and Shinyanga region at large.
