SHERATON’S CONNOISSEUR FESTIVAL ONCE AGAIN A BIG SUCCESS
(Posted 02nd March 2014)
(One of several ‘exhibitors’ stalls at the Sheraton Kampala’s 02nd Connoisseur Festival)
The glasses handed out by the Sheraton Kampala at the entrance to the Lion Centre and the extensive gardens beyond were put to good use by hundreds of Kampaleans who thronged the gardens, as each of the exhibiting wine merchants offered free tasting from a large variety of whites, rose’s and reds they had brought to showcase to lovers of good wine and good food, all aimed to tickle the tastebuds of aficionados of the ‘good life’ in which drink and food play a major role of course.
A band entertained the crowd from their stage in the gardens and the children enjoyed a bouncing castle and playground where they had their own version of fun with chips and ice cream, face painting included to the lasting delight no doubt of their parents.
The adults in the meantime were busy ‘WhatsApping’ their friends to come and join, display their hats, empty their glasses and generally pose in their Sunday best, or what they thought a Sunday best should look like.
All in all a splendid Sunday afternoon and not the least reminiscent of the finale of the Carnival season elsewhere in the world. Not even a few drops of rain would not prevent the queues getting longer at the wine tasting stalls or at the food stations indicative that visitors indeed had a good time and enjoyed themselves, except perhaps for those who were designated drivers and could only stare with envy as glass after glass of wine made their way down thirsty throats.
