Diani Samaki Classic Fishing Competition – December 27th 2015(Posted 20th November 2015)
The Diani Samaki Classic Fishing Competition will be held on the 27th December 2015 at the Forty Thieves Beach Bar on Diani Beach from 06:30am. There will be a Boat Auction, Sweepstake and Captains briefing on the 26th December 2015 at Forty Thieves Beach Bar, following the Annual Christmas Camel Race.
Following many years of dominance by the North Coast, in 2014 Diani Beach relaunched Sport Fishing Competitions on the South Coast with the aim of encouraging responsible tag and release fishing. All proceeds from the Diani Samaki Classic Fishing Competition 2015 will be donated to the African Billfish Foundation. The African Billfish Foundation (ABF) is a unique charity which maintains and analyses the largest billfish tagging database in Africa.
The Diani Samaki Classic Fishing Competition is not just about Sport Fishing, the competition is open to anyone, whether you fish from the beach, by kayak or from a professional charter boat. Each category is weighted with a handicap to make a very competitive event.
Last years event attracted 6 boats, one non motorised canoe, and one person casting off the beach. thirty four thousand Kenya Shillings was donated to the African Billfish Foundation. This year we hope to welcome boats fishing from Mombasa as well as more non motorised crafts.
Entry forms can be found on the website at www.dianisamakiclassic.fishing. Fees are Kshs2,000.00 per angler. Closing date for entries is 12 noon on 26th December.
