CARING FOR THE DOG SQUAD

This Christmas, the Rhino Dog Squad urgently needs your support for everything from veterinary bills to tasty treats. Without the dog units, poaching could be far worse. So please help us keep these canine heroes in the field, donate what you can, and protect Kenya’s rhinos.

Donations are needed for:

• Veterinary care to keep the dogs healthy

• Quality food to give the dogs energy in the field

• Kennels to make sure the dogs can rest and stay safe from predators

• And not forgetting yummy rewards for all their hard work during training!

You can now donate in a variety of currencies including GBP, USD, AUD, CAD, EURO & more.

noyta.pngNYOta

This week Nyota, the ‘star’ of our Rhino Dog Squad appeal underwent urgent veterinary treatment after the eight-year-old bloodhound fell unwell. Vets successfully removed a tumour on her spleen and Nyota is now recovering from the operation. These veterinary costs are incredibly expensive for the rhino conservancies, and this is where your donations will provide vital support. Please donate to our Rhino Dog Squad appeal to help the conservancies provide the best care for their incredible rhino protector dogs.

vets.pngWhat veterinary treatment is needed?

Dogs are an essential but expensive part of an anti-poaching team – so their welfare is paramount. Your donations will pay for everything from regular check-ups to vaccinations such as rabies, routine worming and flea spray, as well as treating field injuries like snake bites and providing medical kits that each team must carry while on duty.

radio4appeal.pngUK supporters, please tune in to BBC Radio 4 on Sunday 20 December at 07.54 or 21.26 and hear Sam Taylor from Borana Conservancy give a fundraising appeal for the Rhino Dog Squad. His appeal will be repeated on Christmas eve at 12.54. International supporters can catch up online.
