Kenya Airways has earlier this week taken delivery of a Boeing B737-800.

The aircraft, acquired from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise, will be deployed immediately and start to operate on the airline’s routes across the East African region and the continent.

According to KQ Managing Director Allan Kilavuka does the addition of the aircraft highlight the airline’s approach to securing resources that support its long-term growth goals and its commitment to its turnaround strategy, named Project Kifaru 2.

The addition of this B737-800 marks a pivotal moment in our fleet expansion journey. It will increase our seat capacity and is a demonstration of our ability to adapt and grow in a challenging operating environment, even as the global aviation industry faces challenges in aircraft availability,” he said in a statement on Wednesday before concluding: These efforts are part of Kenya Airways’ broader strategy to enhance its network, improve connectivity, and deliver exceptional service to its guests. We are committed to building a robust and modern fleet that supports our vision for growth

It was learned that Kenya Airways is currently pursuing the acquisition, by lease or purchase, of additional aircraft to further expand its fleet.
