(Posted 03rd May 2014)

Kenya Airways has for the second time won the prestigious ‘African Cargo Airlines of the Year’ award which is an annual event by Air Cargo News. It was readers of the magazine from around the world who voted for Kenya Airways, which has in recent years progressively built up cargo capacity. The airline, in cooperation with Martinair, is operating a B747-400 cargo aircraft and has converted two Boeing B737-300 from passenger versions to cargo versions, which are now feeding and de-feeding the larger B747 but also regular scheduled services flown with wide bodies aircraft like the B777 and the B767 – the first delivered B787 will commence scheduled flights in June to Paris, also then offering underfloor cargo capacity.

The General Manager of KQ Cargo was quoted saying: ‘Winning this prestigious award and to be recognized directly by our customers is a great honour and a powerful endorsement of our focus and dedication to providing the highest levels of service’ to which Nigel Tomkins, the Managing Director of Air Cargo News replied: ‘In the emerging markets of Africa, competition between rival players is becoming fierce and this is driving up quality standards’.

The awards are now in its 30th year and are generally considered as the most respected cargo awards in the industry, giving Kenya Airways Cargo a resounding seal of approval for the quality of their operation. For more details visit either www.kenya-airways.com or www.kqcargo.com
