NEW DEAL OPENS LAMU, MALINDI, UKUNDA AND ELDORET FOR INTERNATIONAL KENYA AIRWAYS PASSENGERS

Kenya Airways and Jambojet, its low cost subsidiary, yesterday signed a major codeshare deal, over and above the recently announced agreement under which Jambojet is operating flights from Nairobi to Malindi since yesterday.
The expanded deal now also covers the coastal destinations of Lamu and Ukunda, giving coast tourism a shot in the arm as international passengers will now be able to book their tickets from their point of embarkation all the way to Mombasa’s south coast, one of East Africa’s best and often awarded recognition as one of Africa’s best beach areas.
In addition will the Western Kenyan town of Eldoret become part of the deal too, with Jambojet operating at least two flights a day from Nairobi.
All these destinations will be serviced with Jambojet’s Bombardier Q400NG aircraft out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Passengers arriving on Kenya Airways’ international flights will have to clear immigration and customs in Nairobi before then checking in again at the domestic terminal for their final destination.
Kenya Airways will however continue to offer their own flights on the routes from Nairobi to Mombasa and Kenya’s third largest city Kisumu.
Said Kenya Airways’ CEO Mbuvi Ngunze when announcing the deal: ‘We continuously strive to improve air access in Kenya and the region as a whole by offering seamless connectivity for travellers‘ with Mr. Willem Hondius, CEO of Jambojet then replying: ‘We are delighted to seal this agreement, which will allow us to enhance connectivity between the two networks. This will bring about a greater flow of both local and international travelers and boost the number of tourists to the Coastal cities. Without a doubt this agreement will contribute to our growth as a low cost carrier and with the increased number of flights, we will further improve our service offering to our customers travelling to Malindi‘.
