ALLAN KILAVUKA TO STEP UP AS ACTING CEO OF PARENT COMPANY KENYA AIRWAYS

Kenya Airways has just confirmed that Mr. Allan Kilavuka, CEO of the airline’s LCC Jambojet, will become Acting CEO once the embattled Sebastian Mikosz makes way and leaves KQ.
Allan will take over effective 01st of January after Mikosz officially leaves the airline although he is expected to already take time out over the festive season.
The recruitment of a substantive successor, already underway for several months now, has until now not yielded concrete results, largely due to the financial state of the airline, the inevitable cross fire from the unions and as one regular source close to the airline put it to ATCNews ‘low staff morale’.
Formal notification, as required for listed companies, was sent to the Nairobi Security Exchange CEO Mr. Odundo and was reportedly signed by the airline’s Company Secretary Catherine Musakali.
Mikosz sent in his quit notice already in May, barely two years after he was brought on board as a supposed miracle worker and turnaround specialist, but found himself embroiled in controversies within no time. He often poorly chose his words, made enemies with unions and his pilots and surrounded himself with a clique of individuals who, given the present situation at KQ, clearly did not always have the back of their boss as their first priority and began to ran circles around him.
