Kenya Goverment finally appoints a new CEO for Kenya Tourism

June Chepkemei appointed new Kenya Tourism Board CEO

 

 

 

Ms. June Teclar Chepkemei was recently appointed as the new CEO of the Kenya Tourism Board, based in Nairobi. She replaces Mr. John Chirchir, who has been holding the position in an acting capacity since November 2022.

She was previously the Managing Director of the Kenya Investment Authority before which she held other offices in the public sector and working for several years in the private sector including media companies.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Mr. Alfred Mutua, in a gazette notice published earlier this week, announced that Ms. Chepkemei was to serve in the position for a period of three years.

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 37(1) of the Tourism Act, 2011, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife appoints June Teclar Chepkemei to be the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Tourism Board,”

In her edcuational background does she hold a Masters’s Degree in Communications Studies from Moi University (Kenya), a bachelor’s Degree in PR & Communications, a Postgraduate Diploma In Professional Marketing from The Chartered Institute Of Marketing UK and had undertaken an executive training program on Innovation from Stanford Centre For Professional Development.

She is reportedly pursuing a Ph.D. in Information Science at present.

She is also a Chartered Marketeer by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), UK, and a Member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya.
