NEW LIST PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUT APPROVED QUARANTINE HOTELS IN KENYA
(Posted 08th May 2020)
The Kenyan government has updated its list of approved quarantine hotels and nine government institutions and schools sanctioned to provide such services. The number of hotels is sharply down from the first such list published here a few weeks ago to now only 35 with a number of initially included hotels no longer on the list. It could not be established if those hotels were dropped or opted out of the scheme by themselves. All upcountry and coast locations appear to have been removed from the new listings.
New on it though are serviced apartments including Heri Heights at Nairobi Arboretum which sells at 90 US Dollars a night on Full Board and has availed 18 units for such purposes.
67 Airport Hotel, at both Athi River and along Mombasa Road, offers quarantine services at 60 US Dollars a night on Full Board, while some other hotels – without matching services for that matter – charge as much as 215 US Dollars a night, as attached pages show.
Anyone arriving in Kenya at present and wishing to enter the country – including repatriation flights currently underway by Kenya Airways – has to select a location from among those places listed and then sit out the 14 day mandatory quarantine at their own expense.
