KWS LAUNCHES GAME CENSUS IN #LAIKIPIA, #MERU, #SAMBURU, #ISIOLO AND #MARSABIT

(Posted 21st November 2017)

Over a dozen aircraft will be used to survey from the air the game population in Northern Kenya, covering 5 counties and involving at least 10 conservancies participating in the exercise. Among those are Lewa, the Laikipia Wildlife Forum, the Northern Rangelands Trust and Loisaba to name but a few key stakeholders.
The week long survey which went underway yesterday, will have two operational bases, one at the Sarova Shaba Lodge and the other at the Mpala Research Centre in Laikipia.
The main focus will be to capture accurate numbers of elephant, buffalo, giraffes and Grevy zebras to provide researchers and planners with current data on their populations and distribution across the five counties.
When the census results are available be sure to read about it right here.
