ANOTHER AIR ACCIDENT RATTLES KENYA’S FLYING PUBLIC

A De Havilland Dash 8-300 earlier today suffered a take off accident, as the aircraft, owned and operated by Fly 540, attempted to leave from Kapese airfield enroute to Nairobi.
Registered as 5Y-CGH, with manufacturing number MSN 525, die the aircraft with 49 passengers and 5 crew on board make a forced landing, after one of the engines was struck by what was described as a ‘foreign object’.
The airline later issued the following statement:

The aircraft, which entered first into service in 1999, is now just over 21 years old and joined the Fly 540 fleet in 2017.
