Air traffic into and out of Khartoum remains closed since ATCNews reported the cancellation of flights by several airlines a few days ago.

In fact have more airlines halted operations, in part because their Sudanese staff are staging a strike alongside most of the country which has all but brought key economic sectors like oil, transport and manufacturing to a standstill now.

With no end in sight of strike action ending anytime soon has the military junta arrested more opposition figures, including the Secretary General of the SPLM-N following talks he and others have held directly with Ethiopian authorities which have offered to mediate in the conflict.

It is not clear at present if any airlines are currently serving Khartoum International Airport but it has been confirmed that hundreds of passengers who had intended to fly to Khartoum or out of the Sudanese capital are stranded at present at their points of departure.
