KHTF 2014 and HOSEA 2014 end in Nairobi

KENYA HOSPITALITY TRADE SHOW AND HOTEL SUMMIT EAST AFRICA DECLARED ‘SUCCESS

(Posted 17th May 2014)

The second edition of the Kenya Hospitality Trade Fair and the parallel Hotel Summit East Africa ended yesterday evening at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in the heart of Nairobi. Exhibitors expressed satisfaction with the business contacts made, inspite of the present challenges Kenya’s tourism and hospitality sector faces. Visitors to the exhibition in particular appreciated the cooking demonstration sessions with Kenya’s first celebrity Chef Ali, Chef Raphael and chefs from the Sarova Stanley Hotel, who thrilled the crowd mobbing the cooking stations with mouth-watering dishes being prepared in the space of an hour, cooking instructions of course provided and demonstrated. Other similar events across the three days the trade show was open, comprised whiskey tasting sessions, organized by Kenya Breweries which are owned by East African Breweries which in turn is a Diageo subsidiary, tea and coffee tasting sessions too were available to exhibitors and visitors courtesy of Kericho Gold and Dorman’s Coffee. Domaine Kenya made an impact with their wine tasting sessions while PERAK, the Pub and Restaurant Association of Kenya operated a ‘Bartenders & Mixologists’ pavilion which during demonstrations too was packed to capacity.

The Hotel Summit in a packed programme showcased a number of international speakers and presenters discussing the entire range of challenges investors in the hospitality industry are faced with, from planning over feasibility studies, financing to staffing and last but not least to implementing green operating standards, leading to lively discussions and interactions during the coffee breaks.

Details of the 2015 edition will be shared here once the dates have been announced in a few weeks’ time. Meanwhile click on www.kenyahospitalitytradefair.com and www.hotelsummitea.com for more information.
