Kisoro aerodrome now expected to remain closed until March 2024

(Posted 28th January 2024)

Further to an earlier reports, filed here last week, has the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority now issued another NOTAM about the Kisoro field.

#Kisoro runway continues to be closed – until further notice

The hitherto ‘Further Notice‘ now extends until at least the 19th of March:

B0002/24

Starting Saturday 27th January, 2024 till Sunday 10th March, 2024 KISORO RUNWAY 18/36 CLOSED. REF: AD 2-HUKI-1-3 (30 MAR 17)

Air operators, like Aerolink Uganda, which offer scheduled flights to Kisoro, are most affected and the local tourism business community remains upset with the situation as any of their clients, who would otherwise have flown in to avoid the day long road trip from Kampala, now either have to divert to the Kihihi airfield – from where road transport also takes the better part of the day – or else opt out of booking the location.
