#Kisoro Airfield reopens ‘part time’ to allow for convenient travel by air again

(Posted 01st June 2024)

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has via NOTAM informed the public that operations to and from the Kisoro airfield are now possible again, but for limited hours every day.

The NOTAM seen by ATCNews reads as follows:

From Saturday 1st June at 11:00AM till Friday 21st June 2024 at 06:00 PM, Kisoro Runway 18/36 Closed daily from 11:00AM to 06:00PM

REF: AIP UGANDA AD 2-HUKI-1-3 (30 MAR 17)

There has been, as usual, no added information from the UCAA about the period after the 21st of June, if work will have been completed at that time, or worse, that a total closure might be on the cards again.

The uncertainty is a result of the UCAA treating this issue, from the very beginning, like a state secret, yet they should be duty bound to provide transparent information to the public to avoid the kind of speculation which hs been ongoing since December last year.
