KLM MOVES CAPACITY FOR SUMMER 2019 FROM #AFRICA TO THE #USA
(Posted 22nd September 2018)
Come 29th of March next year will KLM halt their flights to Freetown / Sierra Leone and Monrovia / Liberia to us freed aircraft capacity and instead launch a new service to Las Vegas which will operate three times a week.
Freetown and Monrovia were only introduced last year but for a number of reasons fell victim to rationalisation measures after not performing to expectation.
In addition did KLM allude to slot restrictions at their home hub in Schiphol (AMS), leaving the routes to partner Air France via Paris.
The axing of the flights will no doubt be a blow for the economies of Sierra Leone and Liberia which are still recovering after the devastating Ebola outbreak between 2014 and 2016 and both airports are said to already be actively looking for new airlines to fly to Freetown and Monrovia and make up for the loss of connectivity.
