GOLF CAMP FOR KIDS AT LAKE VICTORIA SERENA GOLF RESORT & SPA ONCE AGAIN A SUCCESS

(Posted 09th September 2017)

Helping your child become a better golfer just got a little easier after the successful conclusion of the resort’s first ever golf camp for kids.

In fact, when it comes to learning the game of golf, nothing is quite like the Children’s Camp organized by the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa. The 3-day bi-annual golf and sports camp provides young and aspiring golfers a supportive and safe environment to improve their game while absorbing its traditions and acquiring unique techniques on East Africa’s finest and most challenging course at a tender age.

During a certificate ceremony hosted at the beautiful Marina last weekend to mark the end of a successfully executed camp, Mr. Frankline Nyakundi, General Manager of the Lake Victoria Serena, told parents that ‘whether for professional aspirations or to simply groom junior golfers, the golf camp is conducted in a way that allows children experience the game with no pressure to perform like PGA professionals which is key in arousing long term interest‘.

He indicated that to develop the best for the game, the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa’s Management enlisted Mr. Emmanuel Kasio – a Kenyan National and certified golf coach from US Kids Golf and Golf4Kids Kenya. With years on the courses, Mr. Kasio fully understands the most effective ways to approach every child ensuring that each gets the most out of every training session. He strongly believes that it is his mission to ensure that through the sport of golf, children can learn and participate in community kids’ programs and become good citizens of the world.

Ms. Evelyn Masaba, the Assistant Golf Manager in her remarks at the ceremony also reiterated that as golf enthusiasts who operate and run a course designed to full USGA specifications, it’s their vision to share their passion for the great game of golf with young people across the country as well as the greater East African region. She went on to say that the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa hosted its first Golfing Camp and Tournament between the 14th to the 17th April 2017 which attracted mostly players from Kenya. The second camp that was hosted more recently attracted a total number of 25 participants, mostly between the ages 6 and 10 years and these hailed from five different countries. The charges per child were set at $40 per day and that amount included the green fee, snacks and refreshments throughout the day as well as other activities to entertain the children.

Activities included learning about the rules and etiquette of golf, understanding the basics of the game that includes gripping the club, alignment, set up, short, mid and long games, golf skills challenge on the putting practice green, foot and snag golf at the driving range, putting competition at the putting green, trampoline, slides, swings and bouncy castle at the Kids playground, soccer at the pool gardens, swimming and pool water sport games with professional pool attendants and lastly, indoor games like ping pong, ludo, monopoly and snakes and ladders.
