KENYA AIRWAYS TO DEPLOY LATEST B787 DREAMLINER ON DUBAI ROUTE
(Posted 10th September 2014)
While Kenya Airways is preparing to receive their fifth B787-8 Dreamliner this coming weekend have news emerged that the new aircraft will be deployed on the busy route to Dubai from October onwards.
The use of the new aircraft will offer passengers the latest inflight entertainment and feature KQ’s new cabin layout with improved features in both business and economy class.
The four B787’s already flying for Kenya Airways are deployed on a number of routes including to Johannesburg and Paris, where they have replaced the fuel guzzling aged B767-300ER’s which are now being phased out from the fleet to take full advantage of the 20 percent lower fuel burn, more seats, greater cargo uplift and wider range the Dreamliner has brought with it.
In a related development it was also learned that Kenya Airways has made progress towards attaining the coveted 4star ranking by Skytrax, which is a global aviation benchmark on the quality of services in the air and on the ground. The introduction of a number of brand new aircraft like the B787-8 and the B777-300ER will surely play a role in that audit as will the switch of check in facilities from the former Unit 2, now Terminal 1C to the recently opened Terminal 1A, where the airline will next month formally launch their new state of the art lounges, said to be second to none in Africa, aptly called Pride Lounge and Simba Lounge.
