It is with deepest regret that ATTA announces the passing of Lew Rood on May 4th — a true legend in Africa’s tourism industry.
Lew has been part of the ATTA® family from the very beginning, representing our members, Springbok Atlas as Sales Manager, then Singita as PR Manager. Over more than 30 years, he has remained a steadfast guiding hand and a treasured friend, in both business and in wine bars from Cannes to Cape Town.
One of only three life members of ATTA® , Lew’s contributions were immense. At every ATTA® event, he was there at the entrance, glass in hand, welcoming guests with a warm smile and a witty quip. His wise counsel, on the ATTA® board was always delivered with trademark humour and has helped shape ATTA®.
We owe Lew a great debt and we will be raising a glass to your memory as the industry gathers, at We Are Africa and Indaba.
Lew. You will be deeply missed.
