AIRPORT TAX INCLUSION IN AIR ZIMBABWE TICKETS COMING – BUT NOT JUST YET

Information just received from the Zimbabwe Civil Aviation Authority suggests that
national airline Air Zimbabwe may not be ready just yet to facilitate the inclusion of the airport tax in their tickets, contrary to an earlier report filed here. (https://atcnews.org/2018/01/28/zimbabwe-civil-aviation-puts-air-zimbabwe-back-on-airport-tax-credit-status/)
Said a notice received from CAAZ a few minutes ago:
Please be advised that due to some Logistical Challenges @AirZimbabwe, our earlier Notice on the reinstatement of Passenger Service Charge #PSC & Aviation Infrastructure Development Fund #AIDEF will NO longer take effect on 1/2/18. Any inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted
It is understood from usually well informed sources that while the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe was quite ready to restore credit privileges to the national airline, in contrast did Air Zimbabwe struggle to meet the deadline vis a vis the logistics required with IATA, the global aviation body.
Subsequently will the old system, in place since 2014, remain operational, i.e. Air Zimbabwe passengers will have to pay the airport tax on departure in cash until such time that the inclusion of the tax element in the tickets has been facilitated through IATA.
Another source close to the airline indicated that everything possible is being done by the airline to take advantage of the CAAZ offer and provide the logistical backup to make it happen, sooner rather than later.
