30 OCCUPANTS ESCAPE WITH A FRIGHT AS AIRCRAFT SLIDES OFF RUNWAY AFTER LANDING

An Embraer ERJ 145 yesterday late afternoon encountered a landing incident after touching down in Maputo / Mozambique. The aircraft, owned and operated by Mocambique Expresso, performed the flight for the national airline LAM.
An air accident investigation is now underway to establish the causes of the incident. The aircraft is registered as C9-MEH, MSN 145294 and had 30 onboard including crew.
Flight TM 165 performed a domestic service from Beira to Maputo and for yet unknown reasons departed the runway after landing.
LAM’s Director General issued a brief statement after the incident and said: "There are no injuries, the passengers and crew landed safely and were transported by bus".
A weather warning for Maputo about strong gusts of winds was in place yesterday afternoon.
