NEXT KAMPALA CITY FESTIVAL TO TAKE PLACE ON 05TH OCTOBER
(Posted 02nd August 2014)
Kampala Capital City Authority CEO Jennifer Musisi announced earlier in the week that this year’s Kampala City Festival will take place on Sunday, 05th of October. The announcement was also used to appreciate a number of partners who are teaming up with the city authority and have extended financial and material sponsorship support.
Musisi voiced her hope that this year’s festival will see the city host over 1 million people in the biggest street party in East Africa.
With the theme ‘For the Love of Kampala’ the Kampala City Festival 2014 provides a platform for city residents, Ugandans from other parts of the country and visitors to come together for a day or parades and events.
‘The Kampala City Festival has become a household name and part of our country’s national calendar during independence celebrations. The festival has been evolving over the years from a small city event in 2011 to a much bigger regional activity. We are pleased to unveil the biggest street party ever in the East African region’ was Musisi quoted on the KCCA website.
She further commented that this year’s festival has drawn a lot of regional as well as international participation.
The new festival route this year is longer stretching fromKampala’s Watoto Church to the Kololo Independence Grounds with six separate stages for different performances.
The Festival programme this year lists over 50 events and activities from the world of business, fashion, art and culture, entertainment, technology, industry, contemporary, music and other creative displays.
‘It is a much anticipated moment for citizens to share and learn while acting as an economic engine for organizations to grow, network and prosper’ added Musisi.
For visitors to Uganda and in particular Kampala coinciding with this day, this should be an event not to be missed.
