MAURITIUS DECIDES NOT TO LET EVEN CITIZENS RETURN AS OF 20TH OF MARCH

Mauritius’s tourism industry is suffering a total blowout as of today, after the government in Port Louis has decided to cut all ties with the rest of the world – a day after the first COVID19 cases were reported from the island.
For at least the next two weeks will no foreigners be allowed to enter the island or transit through it, prompting notices of airlines to halt services to and from Mauritius.
Citizens of Mauritius too will no longer be allowed back home as of the 22nd of March, when this additional restriction comes into effect, also initially lasting for 14 days.
Mauritius now has three active cases of COVID19 on the island, while other Vanilla Islands like the French region of Reunion, have reported 14 cases, and Mayotte, also a French region, has reported 3 cases.
Madagascar and the Comoros in contrast remain so far free of the virus, while the Seychelles have now reported 6 cases.
Subsequently have hotel occupancies started to fall in Mauritius as foreign nationals are attempting to leave the island before airlines are forced to halt their flights in view of the new restrictions.
