WTM Africa: IRT continues its conquest of the South African market
Africa World Travel Market (WTM Africa), which takes place from 06th to 08th of April in Cape Town is THE B2B event for marketing destinations in the South African market. For the third consecutive year, the Reunion Island Tourism (IRT) and local tourism partners will be in Cape Town to showcase the island to the South African market and other tourism trade visitors. As part of the development of this key market, the IRT is organizing ahead of the exhibition two workshops in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Cape Town is again host city for WTM Africa later this week from 6 to 8 April. Reunion Tourism will be represented in Hall 3 on the L45 stand and be joined by ten local tourism partners: The regional airline Air Austral, incoming agencies Comptoir Corail, Connections Meeting, Mille Tours and Odyssey Run Affairs, the hotel establishments, the Nautile *** the Hermitage *** Relais Villa Delisle Hotel & Spa ****, Akoya Hotel & Spa ***** and Lux * Reunion island *****.
VISA Exemption for South Africans
To recall, the Ministerial Decree of 7 February 2013 concerning the exemption of short-stay visa for South African nationals has facilitated the arrival of South African travelers in Reunion. With arrivals of these travelers up on the island’s territory, the trade fair for leisure travel industry in Africa is an opportunity for Reunion Tourism to increase and further forge strong contacts with travel agencies and tour operators.
A wide range information about Reunion will be presented to tour operators, travel agents and journalists attending the event. Beyond the presentation of tourism products of Reunion, the focus this year will be on the annular eclipse. On the 01st September 2016 , Reunion will be in pole position to observe this astronomically extraordinary event that will plunge the island in the dark for more than three hours.
A roadshow in Johannesburg and Cape Town ahead of WTM Africa
Ahead of WTM Africa, IRT and its partners will organize two roadshows in Johannesburg and in Cape Town on 04th and 05th of April respectively.
Invitation to the roadshow Reunion Island
This roadshow will in particular discuss the route developments set up by Air Austral, which connects Johannesburg and Reunion. The first workshop will be held in Johannesburg at the Hyatt Regency on Monday April 04th. On site will key South African tour operators also will exhibit alongside Reunion’s tourism professionals.
Thompsons Holidays, World Leisure Holidays, Island Light Holidays and Travel With Options welcome travel agents to learn about the available packages to the island of Reunion. The Ambassador of France in South Africa will also be present and journalists from local and international media will be invited.
On Tuesday 05th of April will the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice Cape host the second workshop where again the media will be invited to interact with tourism players from Reunion and their South African counterparts.
