The long overdue opening of the Moevenpick Hotel in Nairobi’s Westlands suburb is finally expected to take place this year, though no date has been set as yet. It is the interior finish to Moevenpick standards which has reportedly held up the completion of the 15 storey hotel until now.
When open will the new property, Moevenpick’s first in Kenya, add over 220 rooms and suites to the Nairobi hotel scene in a part of the city getting crowded with hospitality businesses after Westlands emerged as alternate Central Business District for the Kenyan capital.
Like the sister hotel of the owners in Kampala, the Golf Course Hotel adjoining the Garden City Mall, will the Nairobi property in an architectural carbon copy, also have a revolving restaurant on top of the hotel’s tower, making it a sight seen from afar.
In neighbouring Ethiopia, where the demand for quality bedrooms has also been growing fast as a result of increased MICE business and emerging tourism, will Moevenpick look at 2020 to open a their first hotel in Addis Ababa with over 250 rooms and suites in the heart of the city.
Other Moevenpick locations for new properties opening over the next years will be Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Egypt.
