From the varied portfolio of beach and bush at Heritage will he take on an even more varied portfolio comprising some of Kenya’s best known safari lodges in the Masai Mara, on Lake Naivasha and soon again on Lake Baringo where the Lake Baringo Club is being rebuild after the initial site had to be abandoned due to the rise in lake water levels. In addition to this comes the Sovereign Suites in Limuru, the Sun Africa Beach Resort in Nyali / Mombasa and an upcoming five star city hotel in the Hurlingham area of Nairobi besides other yet to be confirmed new ventures in Kenya and perhaps the East African region.

Mohammed Hersi can look back at a long and distinguished career over many years which saw him hold the position as General Manager of the Sarova Whitesands Resort & Spa along Bamburi beach north of Mombasa for ten years before he moved nearly four years ago to Heritage Hotels.

Mohammed served several terms as Chairman of the Mombasa and Coast Tourist Association which has since been renamed as the Kenya Coast Tourism Association before he was in June this year elected as Chairman of the Kenya Tourism Federation during the Annual General Meeting. As an industry leader he has gained the respect of the entire tourism sector, not just the hotel industry, as he has been the most vocal defender of added support measures for the sector to pull it out of recession over the past years. Mohammed describes himself as an eternal optimist and regularly takes to his social media handles on Twitter and Facebook to address critical issues, previously often focused on the state of the coastal infrastructure and since his election as KTF Chair expanded to a national level.
