More airlines shift operations at JKIA to new Terminal 2

FLY 540 COMPLETES MOVE TO NEW TERMINAL 2

(Posted 13th April 2015)

Fly540 and the Kenya Airport Authority have both confirmed overnight that the airline has shifted all their departures, domestic and regional, into the new Terminal 2 which opened a few days ago.

A source close to KAA has also indicated that over the coming days more and more airlines and flights will be moving to the new terminal, vacating their present locations in Terminals 1B, 1C and 1D.

All travelers to and from Nairobi, especially those on domestic flights, are urged to ascertain before they drive to the airport, from which terminal their flight will leave, or for those who are picking up passengers, from which terminal their guests will arrive.

It could in view of the early hour not be ascertained if Fly540’s sister company FlySax has also shifted operations already and again are passengers advised to stay in close contact with the airline to ensure they proceed to the right terminal and not miss a flight over trying to check in elsewhere.

The new terminal will act in coming years as a fallback facility for KAA to allow for a full remodeling, refurbishment and modernization of Terminals 1B, 1C and 1D, the latter formerly uses for domestic flights only, to bring those terminals to the standard levels of Terminal 1A, which is now exclusively used by Kenya Airways and their SkyTeam alliance partners for regional, continental and long haul flights.
