Seychelles Climate – What you need to know

There are few destinations where weather beckons you all year round and rain or shine, the Seychelles’ climate is one which is always warm and does not reach extremes of heat or cold, making this island in the Indian Ocean one of the best.

Although this archipelago is a year round destination, many travelers do ask “When is the best time to visit The Seychelles?” It will depend on many things including your interests, exactly where you want to visit and why you’re travelling.

The temperature is consistently between 24 – 32 degrees which makes the Seychelles the perfect destination for sun worshippers and beach lovers. However, more specifically, from May to October the south-east trade winds, or the Southeast Monsoon, bring a relatively dry period. In July and August, there is little rainfall and temperatures average at 27°C, though the seas can be a little choppy.

By November, the pre-Northwest Monsoon arrives and the winds start to change, bringing light, warmer winds and the start of the main rainy season. DuringDecember to March the Seychelles experiences the Northwest Monsoon, the wettest season and though the vegetation is lush, the wind is generally light and the sun is at its warmest. This is also the cyclone season, though only the most remote southern islands are within the cyclone belt.

This period is followed by the calmest, warmest month, April (Pre-Southeast Monsoon), where the winds die down and start to change direction.

But of course, ‘no matter the weather’, the crystal blue waters and soft sandy beaches, the lush green lawns of the spectacular golf courses and the endless experiences which the Seychelles offers, invite you to stay, to See Seychelles.
