#UGANDA’S DOMESTIC TOURISM GETS BOOST AS MOUNTAINEERING GROUP TARGET MULTIPLE LOCATIONS IN 2018

Ugandans, in particular younger Ugandans, have clearly discovered their own country as a vacation and getaway spot, given the successful outings last year by several groups, some trips undertaken in conjunction with the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
The Big Birding Day attracted record numbers of participants and one group, aptly called ‘MountainSlayers‘ has just published their event programme for the new year.

Locations of climbs and hiking outings are spread as far as Zimbabwe but also cover Kenya and Rwanda though mostly concentrate on Uganda given the cost of travel to foreign lands.
The Uganda Wildlife Authority (www.ugandawildlife.org) has told this correspondent that such groups will be given support for their adventures in order to attract more young people to visit the country’s protected areas, national parks and game reserves.
