New B777F boosts Ethiopian’s cargo capacity

ETHIOPIAN TAKES DELIVERY OF FOURTH ALL CARGO BOEING B777

(Posted 18th November 2014)

Ethiopian Airlines continues to take delivery of new aircraft, the latest being a Boeing B777F, an all-cargo version intended to boost freight uplift capacity. ET now operates, the latest arrival included, four B777F’s, two B757F’s and two MD11F, serving some 23 destinations with cargo only flights, besides the underfloor uplift capacity on the airline’s wide body passenger aircraft.

The airline is Star Alliance’s leading member in Africa, the other two being Egypt Air and South African Airways, but appears the alliance’s airline of choice to connect traffic into Africa due to the geographical location of its Addis Ababa hub and the widest number of destinations across the African continent.

The overall fleet is given as 73, with 65 of them passenger aircraft, serving over 100 destinations across the world including North and South America, Europe, the Gulf and Asia.

Only two weeks ago did AFRAA, the African Airline Association, pronounce Ethiopian as their Airline of the Year 2014 as voted for by the AFRAA members. For added information click on www.ethiopianairlines.com
