SEYCHELLES SIGNS BILATERAL AIR SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH CAMBODIA

Following the signing of an economic and technical cooperation agreement in 2010 and a Visa Waiver agreement in 2012 have the Seychelles and Cambodia now signed a new BASA, aka Bilateral Air Service Agreement, which allows for flights between the two countries, as and when the respective national or designated carriers are ready to do so.
Further discussions will be held between the two countries in October when a high ranking delegation from the Seychelles will travel to Cambodia for more talks on matters of mutual interest. Parties to the MoU were the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority and the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, whose representatives signed the deal at the SCAA headquarters on the main island of Mahe.
A media statement received attributes positive comments to the Seychelles Minister for Home Affairs and Transport, Joel Morgan: ‘Cambodia is a worthy addition to our list of prospective future destination for Seychelles as it entices the travelling public, including the business community, traders, as well as tourism partners to discover this enigmatic country and to assess what opportunities exist for exploitation’. He then went on to say that the Seychelles was keen to expand cooperation in the fields of tourism, trade and air transport with Cambodia as some of the areas where mutual benefits could result for both countries.
