TANZANIA AND HOLLAND SIGN NEW BILATERAL AIR SERVICE AGREEMENT

Tanzania and the Netherlands have signed a new Bilateral Air Service Agreement, which replaces the previous edition dating back to the 1970’s, after over two years of negotiations.
It paves the way for airlines from both countries to increase not just frequencies but also use airports beyond the main gateways, which in Tanzania are Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro International outside Arusha and Zanzibar.
Presently KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is flying daily from Amsterdam to Kilimanjaro and then on to Dar es Salaam before returning to Amsterdam and while no Tanzanian airline is currently taking advantage of the opportunities to fly to Holland, this is provided for under the agreement.
The Dutch Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Jaap Frederiks and the Tanzanian Minister for Transport Dr. Harrison Mwakyembe addressed a press conference to make the announcement following the conclusion of the signing ceremony.
Tourism stakeholders have welcomed the new deal, expressing hope that KLM will in time to come up their number of flights to bring more tourists and business visitors to Tanzania.
